Cardinals Player Report for Week 7
Here’s a status report for the Arizona Cardinals players who have been on the injury list or questionable, brought to us by Thomson Reuters.
QB Drew Stanton passed concussion protocol last week and is expected to back up Carson Palmer.
TE Troy Niklas is expected to miss a second consecutive game with a high ankle sprain. Darren Fells has moved into the No. 3 tight-end role.
DE Frostee Rucker will have to play through a calf injury for the rest of the season. Rucker will miss some practice time each week but the hope is that will enable him to play in games.
TE John Carlson (knee) missed some practice time this week but is expected to play.
DE Calais Campbell is going to miss at least one more game with a strained MCL. Ed Stinson, Tommy Kelly and Frostee Rucker combined to replace Campbell last week.
QB Carson Palmer is at about 85 percent and should be able to make a second consecutive start this week.
RB Andre Ellington is missing some practice time this week as he tries to manage a foot injury that's troubled him all year. Ellington is expected to play in Oakland, but he might have to take a day off every week for most of the rest of the year.
OLB Alex Okafor came through when the Cardinals needed him most. Replacing the injured Matt Shaughnessy, Okafor recorded the first two tackles of his career.
Cardinals need a win in Oakaland this week to build on their lead in the NFC West. The Raiders have been playing with a new attitude since Tony Sparano took over as ‘Interm Coach’.
